Golf Courses in the Algarve
A lot of Golf enthusiasts regard the Algarve as Europe's golf best destination, with over 30 courses, new ones constantly in development, and good weather throughout the year.
Henry Cotton designed the first course here in the 1960's at Penina, and since that time course designers have been keen to take advantage of the breathtaking scenery the Algarve provides.
Many courses are set within natural wildlife parks, with rolling fairways set admist lagoons or with stunning cliff views overlooking the Atlantic ocean.
Golfers will find along the coast a range of courses suitable for different levels of profficiency, each with its own unique character and challenges.

The Algarve's popularity as a tourist destination means that English is widely spoken here. This part of Portugal becomes very busy during the summer months, and especially during weekends in August when the whole of Portugal is on holiday. However, during the spring and late-summer there are substantially less tourists whilst the weather remains excellent.
